Harries 'over the moon' to reach final

27th April

Cian Harries revealed his delight after Swansea City Under-23s progressed to the Premier League Cup final for the second year running.

Adnan Maric, George Byers and Kenji Gorre were on target as the young Swans enjoyed a commanding 3-0 victory over Sheffield United at Landore.

The development side will play Aston Villa in the final, where they will be aiming for a successful title defence.

And skipper Harries is excited at the prospect of leading his team-mates in the showpiece.

“We’re over the moon to get through to the final,” the 20-year-old said. “It was a very assured performance, as we were planning on.

“We like to play at our own pace and tempo and that’s what we did. It’s now down to us to retain the title by beating Aston Villa.

“Hopefully, the final will be a really good experience. It’s another stepping stone in our young careers.

“To reach the final of the competition at this age is very beneficial for us in the long run. Getting this experience so young can only help us develop as players."
