Alfie Mawson has saluted Lukasz Fabianski in the wake of Swansea City’s scrap for a point at Huddersfield Town.

Carlos Carvalhal’s team defended heroically to claim a result against one of their Premier League relegation rivals at the John Smith’s Stadium despite going down to 10 men after just 11 minutes when Jordan Ayew saw red.

Carvalhal rightly praised his whole team for the desire and determination they showed to maintain momentum in difficult circumstances.

Mawson was one of a number of outfield players who produced resilient displays – but the centre-back has paid tribute to Fabianski.

The Polish international claimed his ninth clean sheet of the season courtesy of a rock-solid performance, the highlight of which was a brilliant reaction save to deny Steve Mounie.

“Huddersfield was a hard game – it was basically attack versus defence,” Mawson said.

“But we are doing so well because we have a keeper behind us who is in such good form.

“Even when we were losing games earlier in the season, he was still making crucial saves.

“There is only so much you can do as a goalkeeper, but he made some vital saves that ensured we earned a point at Huddersfield.

“He is a model pro and hats off to him and the whole team for an outstanding performance.”
