Itay dedicates goal to 'amazing' fans

8th May

Itay Shechter dedicated his first Swansea goal and victory at Wigan to the "amazing" Jack Army for their support this season.
The Israeli international found the net for the first time as a Swan in Tuesday night's 3-2 win at the DW Stadium.
Handed his first start since the defeat at Liverpool in February, Shechter put the Swans on level terms for the second time when his shot found the bottom corner just before the hour mark.
Dwight Tiendalli then followed Shechter, on loan from German club Kaiserslautern, in scoring his first Swans goal to give Michael Laudrup's side all three points.
For Shechter it proved an extra special evening, and he was quick to thank the Swans supporters for their fantastic support.
"I'm so happy for the goal, the win and for the fans.
"It was an amazing game - it started 1-0 to Wigan, then we got the equaliser but they scored straight away to make it 2-1.
"Then I got my first goal for Swansea. For me, I've waited for this goal since I arrived here.
"I always work hard in training and I believed in myself. I'm happy this goal helped the team.
"It was great for the fans because they have come a long way to see us. The three points was for them.
"I've played a lot of seasons, but the support at Swansea is amazing for the team.
"They always keep going and help the team no matter if we are winning or losing."
With Shechter's loan spell due to end at the end of the season, the striker is hoping to play a big part in the remaining games with newly-crowned champions Manchester United and the final home fixture against Fulham.
He added: "I'm happy here. It has been an amazing season for the club.
"I don't know what will happen next season - I have two years left of my contract in Germany (with Kaiserslautern).
"I will give everything for the team in the next two games if the manager needs me."
