Itay: Thanks for the memories

24th May

Itay Shechter has thanked Swansea City for the special memories he enjoyed during his loan spell at the Liberty.
The Israel international joined the Swans on a temporary basis last August from German club Kaiserslautern, and went on to feature 18 times under Michael Laudrup during a season in which the club lifted the Capital One Cup and finished ninth in the Barclays Premier League.
Shechter came off the bench in the final league fixture of the season against Fulham, and took part in the lap of honour around the Liberty as the squad thanked the Jack Army for their unbelievable support this season.
And the striker, who will return to Kaiserslautern when his loan spell officially ends next month, was quick to thank everyone at the club for ensuring his stint in South West Wales was an enjoyable experience.
"Since the day I arrived, I have been treated so well. It helps you settle so much better when you arrive at a new club like this," said the 26-year-old.
"I've enjoyed being part of this squad. We won the cup, finished ninth in the Premier League - it has been an amazing season.
"It was great for me to be part of the lap of honour too. It was a special day.
"I wanted to show respect to the supporters because they have been behind the team - and myself - all season, no matter what the result.
"If we win, draw or lose - it doesn't matter because they always make so much noise and get behind the team.
"The season has been amazing for the club and the fans, and I have had an amazing time at Swansea too."
