Jake Bidwell | It's great to get a goal, I just wish the fans had been there to enjoy it

Jake Bidwell was delighted to open his Swansea City account, but only wishes the Jack Army could have been at the Liberty Stadium to enjoy the moment.

The 27-year-old wing-back has enjoyed a fine start to the campaign, and already had two assists to his name before getting his name on the scoresheet.

It was Bidwell’s first goal since netting for QPR against Leeds in January 2019, and it was a clever finish as he avoided Mahlon Romeo’s efforts to block him by stretching out a leg to connect with Morgan Gibbs-White’s cross.

It was a moment to savour as he was mobbed by his team-mates, but he admitted he would have preferred to have been marking his first Swans goal in front of a full Liberty.

"We're obviously made up to get the win. It's just a shame nobody was here to see it because it’s always great to share these moments with the supporters,” he said.

“But, it’s another win on the board, which is the main thing.

“It’s obviously nice to score. I just came in at the back post and tried to get something on the ball. Thankfully, it went in.

”I've probably had better chances this year, but it's nice to get off the mark and nice to contribute in the win.

“Hopefully, there are a few more to come before the end of the season and maybe there’ll be a time when I can do it when the fans are here to enjoy it too.”
