Jake Bidwell believes Swansea City have made strides over the course of pre-season that will stand them in good stead once the Championship campaign begins.

Steve Cooper's side ended their preparations for the new campaign with a 100 per cent record, beating Mansfield, Crawley, Yeovil, Exeter, Bristol Rovers and Atalanta in friendly action.

The next time they take to the field there will be points on the line as Hull City visit the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

And, while new signing Bidwell knows pre-season results do not necessarily prove an accurate indicator of what is to come, he feels the Swans are in good shape ahead of the big kick-off.

"Sometimes people don’t really want to read too much into pre-season results but if you analyse them, I think step by step our performances have improved every game," he said.

"Atalanta was a good test for us and was probably the most amount of work we’ve had to do without the ball.

"But I think we stood up to it well in the end.

"Hopefully that will put us in good stead leading into the coming week and into the season."
