Jake Bidwell | Response to defeats key over long season

Jake Bidwell wants Swansea City to get back to winning ways at the earliest opportunity and start another unbeaten run.

The Swans suffered their first defeat of the season at the weekend as Nottingham Forest snatched all three points with a late winner at the Liberty Stadium.

While there was disappointment at seeing a 13-match unbeaten run come to an end, there are still 39 games to go in what is a long and gruelling Championship season.

Left-back Bidwell – who has made over 200 appearances in the division after stints with Brentford and QPR before joining the Swans – knows better than most the ups and downs that come across the course of the season.

But he wants Steve Cooper’s side to quickly bounce back when they travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City on Saturday.

“It’s the Championship so you’re going to be playing matches like this at some point and it is all about how you bounce back,” said the former Everton man.

“I thought there was some decent play in the second half, but it’s a 46-game season, you’re not going to win all games and it is about how you bounce back from that.

“There are many more games to come for us to put things right.

“We need to make sure that we bounce back quickly but that is what the Championship is all about.

“We have shown some quality up until now, so it is time for us to show even more on the back of a defeat.”
