January's Jack of the Month

29th January

Swansea City are delighted to announce that Matt Phillips has been named as the first Jack of the Month for 2014.

The 27-year-old, from St. Thomas in Swansea, has been chosen as January's winner for the monthly accolade as part of the club's initiative to give back to our loyal supporters.

Phillips, a Swans season ticket holder of 12 years, has travelled to over 250 away games to cheer on the Swans, including trips across Europe to support Michael Laudrup's side in the Europa League this year.

But while the Swans are enjoying the glamour of European football this season, Phillips hasn't forgotten his side's exploits in the lower divisions of English football.

"I seem to remember my father taking me to the odd game back in the early 90s, but the first game I clearly remember was Swansea against Exeter in 2013." said Phillips.

"We won 3-0 at the Vetch, which meant we were promoted to Division 3 under John Hollins. That was a great moment.

"But there have been so many great moments. My best memories are the obvious ones - promotion at Bury, winning League One at Gillingham, the play-off final, the League Cup final and seeing the Swans in Europe. Winning away at Valencia this season was pretty special."

If you think you're a massive Swans supporter, like Matt Phillips, you can nominate yourself for January's Jack of the Month by e-mailing us your story to jackofthemonth@swanseacityfc.co.uk.
