New coach Jarred Harvey was delighted with the application of his Swansea City Under-18s' side after they started his tenure with a 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Landore.

Harvey has taken charge alongside Ollie Jefferies following the departure of Ricky King in September, and enjoyed an ideal start with the win in the Professional Development League.

Afi Adebayo had given the Tractor Boys the ideal start inside three minutes when he finished off a solo run.

Thomas Woodward would draw the Swans level from a tight angle not long after, before putting the hosts ahead from Aimar Govea's delivery.

The visitors drew level shortly after the break, Luke Towler tapping home from a set-piece, but former Tottenham man Pescatore fashioned a brilliant strike within four minutes of his introduction to restore Swansea’s lead.

And 17-year-old Woodward then completed his treble in stoppage time, showing brilliant skill to fend off his man and slot home the hosts’ fourth goal of the contest.

Harvey - who was previously a first-team coach at Newport County - was proud of the application and character the youngsters showed to comeback from trailing.

"I'm really pleased with the result. I thought the boys showed great application with the things we've being trying to implement in a short space of time," said Harvey.

"We defended well when we were under pressure. Before the game, we asked them to leave everything on the field and they did that. I thought they played really well.

"One of the most pleasing things for me was that they applied the information we had given them in a short space of time.

"We were quite slow to get going, but as soon as we scored the equaliser we seemed to kick ourselves into gear. We found our intensity of play, were comfortable in possession and we looked a real threat.

"Apart from going a goal behind, I thought we showed real character and courage to fight back. You could see the early goal hurt them, but they kicked on and didn't let it disrupt their momentum."
