Jay Fulton glad to mark personal milestone with a win

Jay Fulton was delighted to mark his 150th Swansea City appearance with a win as the Scottish midfielder helped Russell Martin's side see off Bristol City.

Fulton, 27, had to have a watching brief over the first few weeks of the season as he served his three-match ban following his red card in last season's play-off final.

He returned to action in the midweek clash against Stoke, and played the full match at Ashton Gate as Joel Piroe's goal gave the visitors just a second win at the ground in 28 years.

It was a nice way for Fulton to become the third player this calendar year to join Swansea's 150 club, with Matt Grimes and Connor Roberts having achieved the feat previously in 2021.

And Fulton, who first joined the Swans in 2014, was a happy man after picking up that first league win of the new campaign.

"I never imagined I’d make 150 appearances for the club," he said.

"I came down when I was very young and I’m just proud to play for Swansea. Myself and my family love it here and hopefully there are many more appearances to come.

"To mark that milestone with a win is obviously great and we’re delighted to get off the mark with our first win in the league.

"Pre-season and the start of the season has been toug,h but we’re trying and we’re working hard and taking all of the gaffer’s messages on board.

"We had a lack of pre-season games and have had a lot of boys out with Covid and different things, so the fitness isn’t quite there yet and we’re still getting used to the new manager, but we’re getting there. Getting that first win is only going to bring us confidence.

"We’re happy to get that first win and it was especially great for the fans, we brought a big following here. We’re delighted."
