Joel Piroe described his debut goal for Swansea City as “the cherry on the cake” and hopes there are many more to come.

The 22-year-old bagged his first goal since his summer move from PSV Eindhoven in the 3-0 Carabao Cup win at Reading, sweeping home a Yan Dhanda pass to complete the scoring.

The Dutchman also went close to a spectacular solo goal, picking the ball up on halfway and finding a way past a handful of defenders before firing off a firm strike that the keeper managed to parry.

Finding the net was a nice way for Piroe to round off a good night’s work as he netted in front of the travelling fans who had made the journey to Berkshire.

And he hopes there are plenty more moments like that to come.

“I thought it was a really good team performance,” he said.

”I thought we controlled the game and we created a lot of chances.

“We got the early goal which allowed us to have that control and we were able to go on from there.

”I really loved it, it was great to be part of this side and to hear the brilliant fans.

”The noise they made, you would have thought the stadium was full and for me to score in front of them was the cherry on the cake.

“For sure it is nice to be able to kick things off like this, and I hope after this one there will be many more.”
