Declan John hopes to have earned a chance to be a regular under Graham Potter after playing his part in the FA Cup win over Gillingham.

The Wales international made his fourth start for the Swans since his summer switch from Rangers, with John heavily involved down the left flank during the 4-1 victory.

With Martin Olsson ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, the 23-year-old aims to make the left-back position his own after impressing at the weekend.

And he hopes his efforts will have been enough to earn him another start when the Swans host Birmingham City on Tuesday night in the Championship.

“I think I’ve been a bit unlucky with niggling injuries,” said John. “It’s held me back a bit.

“Hopefully, after these 90 minutes, I can get a few more league games under my belt.

“I felt good out there and I was pleased with my performance. I got forward quite a bit and was involved a lot, so I’m happy with how it went.

“Hopefully I will get another chance on Tuesday to show what I can do.”
