Jordi Amat signs contract extension

30th January

Swansea City defender Jordi Amat has signed a new one-year extension at the Liberty.
Amat, who penned a new deal only last March, has committed to the Swans until the summer of 2019.
The 23-year-old has featured 48 times since joining the Swans from Spanish club Espanyol in June 2013.
A former Spanish Under-21 international, Amat has featured as a substitute in the Swans' recent back-to-back victories over Watford and Everton.
And he is delighted to have penned a new deal at the club where he now calls home.

"It's great news and I'm so happy to sign a new extension," said the centre-back. "First of all I would like to thank the chairman and the club, because they trust me. I'm grateful for that.
"I've been here two-and-a-half years and I'm very happy to be here for another three years.
"This is my home. I am happy here and my family is too."
With captain Ashley Williams partnered by Federico Fernandez at the heart of the Swans defence, Amat has been limited to six appearances this season.
But he came off the bench at Goodison Park in head coach Francesco Guidolin's first game in charge to help the Swans pick up three points following a 2-1 win.
And he believes the Swans are in safe hands under the experienced Italian.

"I like Francesco and I think he is the right man to take us forward," added Amat. "It was a big change, but it was also an opportunity for me to be involved in the team.
"Everyone wants to play in every game, but I am here and ready for the team whenever I'm needed. I'm always trying my best in training and in games to help the team.
"The last two wins have been a real lift, and we want to continue that good run. Hopefully I can play a part too."
