Josh Tymon reflects on stunning strike in "massive" Swansea City win
Josh Tymon admitted he didn't know what to do with himself after netting his stunning strike against Oxford United, but he is fully aware of how important it was for Swansea City to secure three points with the 2-0 win at the Swansea.com Stadium.
After Marko Stamenic's first goal for the club had given the Swans the lead, Tymon doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time with a volley that will live long in the memory.
When Jisung Eom's free-kick was cleared to the edge of the box, Tymon met the dropping ball with his left-foot and sent a brilliant strike arrowing into the net via the underside of the crossbar.
The full-back wheeled away in celebration, chased by his teammates as he veered back and forth, and he was delighted to have helped Swansea end a run of defeats.
"It was a weird feeling when the ball hit the back of the net actually, I didn't quite know what to do, as you can tell by the celebration," he said with a smile.
"It was more of a relief to get that second goal, and go into half-time with the lead and to regroup.
"It's a massive lift, and now we need to approach Tuesday the same, and we can go again.
"It's a massive win, with the expectations that we set out for this season, and how we started this season, we've found ourselves in a difficult place.
"Today, everyone collectively - not just us as players, but the fans as well - got behind us, and we really needed that.
"Everyone is on board with his vision, the gaffer has a clear idea of what he wants to do. There's no shortcuts with him, all the lads are buying into his vision.
"Once he gets a few more weeks, we'll definitely see a better team. It's good for us to get his first win, and hopefully we can kick on from now."
