Hosford v Cardiff

Swansea City Women’s Katy Hosford has made the decision to leave the club this summer, bringing down the curtain on a fantastic 16 years in black and white.

Hosford, whose name has long been synonymous with the Swans, has won every major domestic honour since making her senior debut in 2013.

The forward won four Welsh top-flight titles, two Welsh Cups and an Adran Trophy during her Swansea career, and she was named club captain in the summer of 2023 as the team moved to semi-professional status.

Across her spell with the club, Hosford has seen and played a key part in the development of the women’s game in south west Wales.

From wearing oversized men’s shirts when she first started representing the club, to playing to record crowds at the Swansea.com Stadium, she has seen it all.

However, having missed the 2025-26 season during her pregnancy and the arrival of baby George, Hosford felt the time was right to step away from the club she has represented with such distinction.

“This has been a difficult decision for me to make, and it is one I make with a heavy heart,” said Hosford.

“But I feel it is the right time for me to leave and to focus on spending time with my family.

“I have been so incredibly proud to play for Swansea City, and to see the amazing strides the team and women’s football as a whole has made over the 13 years since my debut. We have come such a long way and I hope we are creating a legacy that can ensure that growth continues in the years to come.

“I want to say a huge thank you to all my teammates and the staff I have worked with, and I wish Swansea City nothing but success in the future and I can promise you I will be following from afar.”

Swansea City Women football operations and administrative executive, Chloe Bull, added: “We would like to thank Katy for everything she has done for the club.

“She has been an inspiration to so many young boys and girls, and we wish her all the very best for the future.”

Head coach Yzzy Taylor, said: “Katy’s name will always be mentioned when we talk about the most influential figures to have played for Swansea City.

“Her longevity and success underline what an important and inspirational person she has been for young footballers in south-west Wales and beyond.

“We are sad to see her leave, but she leaves a considerable legacy, and we wish Katy every success in what is next for her.”
