Kev Johns signs up for celebrity match

20th May

Swansea City club chaplain Kevin Johns MBE is the latest local celeb to announce he will play in this month's SwansAid charity celebrity match at the Liberty Stadium.
The actor and radio presenter, who is also the celebrity match host, made a special appearance in last year's celebrity match, which raised £55,000 for the club's Community Trust SwansAid fund.
Lifelong Swans supporter Kev declared that he was honoured to be asked to feature again and is looking forward to getting back onto the pitch.
"It is great to be back taking part in this event," said Kev.
"I love the Swans and I love football, so this is just a little chance for me to feature at the Liberty Stadium and have a bit of a run around on the pitch.
"It is a tremendous honour to be asked back. We are raising money for a fantastic cause - SwansAid helps some incredible local charities."
Kev will join a host of other celebrities for the match, including X-Factor star Jay James, I'm a Celebrity runner-up Jake Quickenden, Wales rugby legend Shane Williams and last year's winning captain and soapstar Adam Woodyatt.
"These celebrities are coming from all over the UK, from the world of TV, music, theatre and sport. They just love playing football and entertaining the crowd," added Kev.
"I just hope I survive out there. I don't have the physique of a footballer, but I am just looking forward to getting out there and playing for fun.
"It is also a chance for Swansea City fans to celebrate what has been a wonderful season."
Kev has been putting in the hard yards to prepare for the big match by taking part in a special training session with Lee Trundle at the club's Landore training ground.
"It has been great to get out on the training pitch with Trunds," he continued. "He is a great mate, and we do a lot of events together.
"It is an amazing experience for someone like me to have a training session with Swansea City legend Lee Trundle.
"As a fan of the Swans, to have the chance to train and play with some of their ex-players is a dream come true."
