Ki: First Swans goal was worth the wait

16th August

Ki Sung-Yueng said his first goal for the club was well worth the wait as Swansea City secured a history opening-day victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Swans stunned the home crowd into silence during the first half as Ki slotted a cool finish past the despairing dive of David de Gea.
United rallied after the break and levelled through skipper Wayne Rooney, but the Swans took all three points late on as Gylfi Sigurdsson saw his low shot squirm over the line.
It signalled a brace of firsts as the Swans recorded their first league win at Old Trafford, while Ki grabbed his first goal for the club.

"I've waited for a year to score," he said. 'I didn't think about too much when it happened, apart from wanting to help the team to do better.
"I am back in the team and I want to play for Swansea and fight for my place.
"There was a lot of emotions when I scored but i'll keep working hard.
"I don't think anyone expected us to win. But every single player deserved it.
"Defensively, our shape was excellent and when we had the chances to score we did so.
"Overall, it is a great start to the season for us."
