Kings of Leon to light up the Liberty Stadium

7th May

The Liberty Stadium will play host to one of the world's biggest rock bands Kings of Leon this summer.

The multiple Grammy and BRIT award-winning band will arrive in Swansea on Wednesday, July 2, as part of their summer tour following the release of their sixth album 'Mechanical Bull'.

Having headlined some of the world's biggest festivals, including the likes of Glastonbury and Coachella, the band from Tennessee will ride their Mechanical Bull into South West Wales in a concert produced by Orchard - Wales' largest independent music promoter.

And Orchard director Pablo Janczur believes the summer event is set to be one to remember.

He said: "This is a real coup for Swansea and has been made possible through the great support of the Liberty Stadium, where we successfully hosted JLS a few years back.

"Kings of Leon are one of the top live rock acts in the world, and so we expect demand for tickets to be heavy."

Meanwhile, stadium general manager Andrew Davies is looking forward to welcoming such a world-renowned band to the Liberty, labelling the concert as a "massive coup" for the Swansea City stadium.

"To host a band of Kings of Leon's stature is a massive coup for the Liberty Stadium," said Davies.

"Over recent years, the stadium has hosted some fantastic concerts, and I am sure that this summer's will be just as successful.

"It is going to be a great event, and we are all very much looking forward to it."
