Knowledge is power for Monk

16th May

Swans boss Garry Monk takes centre-stage in Sunday's final Jack Magazine of the season as his side host Manchester City at the Liberty Stadium.
In a special exclusive interview with the official matchday programme, Monk speaks about the finer details of his history-making first full season in management, including an insight into his transition from the pitch to the dugout and his plans to build on this year's "building block".
"When I was a player I always tried to think about the game and understand what the manager wanted from the team and from myself," reflects Monk.
"I wanted to give the players knowledge because the more knowledgeable about what is being asked of you and the reason why it is being asked of you, the better the player you will be.
"We've just tried to make the players think more about what goes into it, rather than for them to just play the games, train and go home.
"That knowledge gives you power - a much more powerful squad, a much cleverer and more street-wise squad - and we will promote that even more next season with greater intensity."

Meanwhile, we take a look back at Swansea's hugely successful 2014-15 campaign in our season review - 'Record Breakers, History Makers' - as we reflect on this campaign's incredible journey month-by-month.
Also in this weekend's 84-page edition of Jack Magazine, former Swans and on-loan Aston Villa forward Scott Sinclair discusses his memorable moments from his time at the Liberty in Foot in Both Camps, while The Smiths lead guitarist Johnny Marr goes under the spotlight in 'A Famous Face'.
And there's plenty more in store to keep you entertained right up until kick-off in this weekend's jam-packed edition of Jack Magazine, which will be available for £3 on matchday from around the Liberty Stadium, the Club Shop and online.
