Ladies suffer defeat in second US match New Jersey Copa

25th June

Swansea City Ladies suffered a 4-0 defeat in their second match of their US pre-season tour against New Jersey Copa FC.
NJ Copa opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a headed goal from Erin Sullivan before an attempt on goal from Swansea's Katy Hosford was saved comfortably by Copa's keeper.
Swansea goalkeeper Ffion Ashman made some great saves to prevent Copa from strengthening their lead, whilst midfielder Emma Beynon made an excellent run in an effort to get the Swans back on level terms.
A superb free-kick from Jodie Passmore hit the cross bar for Swans Ladies just after the 20 minute mark while a good cross from Sophie Hancocks was kept out by Copa's keeper five minutes later.
The home side doubled their lead in soon into the second half when Krystyna Freda latched onto long ball from Sydney Cummings.
A fine run from Swans Hosford and excellent defending from Lowri Ridings showed some positive signs for the Swans before Freda scored her second goal for NJ Copa to strengthen their lead.
In the final minutes of the match, Katarina Nilsson, cousin of Swans defender Federico Fernandez, netted a fourth for Copa to seal a 4-0 win for the New Jersey side.
