Laudrup delighted after dominant win

Michael Laudrup praised his players after the Swans produced a wonderful attacking display to ease past Queens Park Rangers at the Liberty.

The home side started brightly and took an early lead as Michu scored his first goal in seven games after Julio Cesar parried Nathan Dyer's shot.

It got worse for the visitors shortly after as Angel Rangel doubled Swansea's advantage, with Rangers not having a single shot on goal in the opening period.

Bobby Zamora pulled one back straight after the restart, but their renewed hope was short lived as Pablo Hernandez grabbed a third and Michu helped himself to his second following a wonderful passing move.

And Laudrup was delighted to see his side bounce back from last weekend's defeat at West Ham and move up to seventh in the Barclays Premier League table.

"The overall performance was very good," he said. "We were excellent in the first half, scored two goals, but then it became more open when they scored.

"But I was very pleased when Pablo scored the third goal and after we scored the fourth goal, I thought we were completely in control.

"I was pleased we scored four goals after two league games without scoring, and the first half was similar to when we played West Brom.

"We had a bit of luck with the first couple of goals but overall it was a great performance and I'm delighted with the win."

It was also a pleasing afternoon for the Swans' top scorer Michu, as the Spaniard netted a brace in a sublime display.

He scored twice against QPR on the opening day of the season and his double on Saturday took him on to 18 goals for the season.

But his manager was equally delighted as Michu returned to goalscoring form after six games without a goal.

"He isn't even really a centre forward," said Laudrup. "He is an offensive midfielder who can also play as a striker and is someone who can score goals.

"If he goes four or five games without a goal it doesn't really matter. Even when he isn't getting the chances he still does plenty of other work for the team."

Michu was substituted in the second half as a precaution, while Chico Flores was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the opening period.

But the prognosis for the defender was good, with no break confirmed, and he is due to have a scan ahead of the club's trip to Dubai.

Meanwhile, the result brought an end to QPR's five-match unbeaten run, with the Hoops remaining bottom of the Premier League and six points adrift of Reading in 17th place.

And boss Harry Redknapp highlighted the defensive frailties following a disappointing afternoon at the Liberty.

"We made mistakes today," he said. "They were blatant, almost schoolboy errors to give the goals away.

"Swansea are a good side and I love the way they play but I felt they didn't have to work hard for their goals. For the first goal we let Nathan Dyer run inside and have a shot and when it comes back Michu has all the time in the world to scoop it back in.

"We get back to 2-1 and I'm thinking we'll get something out of this game and then suddenly we go and give another couple of poor goals away that should never have been conceded.

"Defensively we've been strong lately but today we weren't and it made it difficult."
