Laudrup hails five-star Swans
Michael Laudrup paid tribute to his players after they produced a five-star display to lift the Capital One Cup at Wembley.
The Swans lifted the first major silverware in the club's 100-year history with a comprehensive 5-0 win against Bradford City.
Nathan Dyer scored the opener, tapping in after Michu's shot had been saved, before the Spaniard curled home his 19th goal of the season to give Laudrup's men a two-goal cushion at the break.
Dyer grabbed his second just minutes after the restart and after Matt Duke hauled down Jonathan de Guzman, the Dutch midfielder netted the fourth from the sport before going on to seal the win in stoppage time with a cool finish from Angel Rangel's cross.
It was perfect reward for the Swans, and Laudrup praised his players for what they have achieved.
"I can't compare this win with what I have done before," he said. "It's one thing to win something with Real Madrid or Barcelona, but to win it with a club like Swansea is absolutely fantastic. It's up there with the best though.
"To lift the trophy is great, but the way we did it said a lot about us. What Bradford have done is outstanding, but this final will stay in the history forever because of what they have achieved, and what we have done as well.
"But this is a great moment for everyone at the club - the players, staff and of course the supporters. We have to enjoy it."
Victory at Wembley now means the Swans will play in next season's Europa League.
It is another feather in the cap for what has been a remarkable season, with the players back on Premier League duty next weekend when Newcastle visit the Liberty Stadium.
And Laudrup wasn't too concerned at looking ahead to next Saturday just yet, instead telling everyone to enjoy the moment of winning a major trophy at Wembley.
"In football, you are always on your way to the next game," he said. "Lets enjoy this for a couple of days and we have time to think about next season.
"We have 37 points in the league and I think we need a lot more. We want to reach the 40-point mark first, and then go from there.
"We still 11 games to go so lets take it one week at a time. However, what we do know is Swansea will play in Europe, and we have won our first major trophy."
Meanwhile, Bradford boss Phil Parkinson had nothing but praise for his players after a majestic cup win.
After wins over Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa en route to the final, the Bantams fell short in the Wembley showpiece and Laudrup's opposite number also paid tribute to Swansea for the way in which they lifted the League Cup.
"What these players have achieved is fantastic," he said. "But there were certain things we could have done better because we are a better side than that.
"However, Swansea are a very, very good team. We had them watched numerous times and I spoke to a lot of Premier League managers who came back and told me they don't have many weaknesses.
"They have a great balance and they keep the ball superbly. Together with their pace and clever players, there all round movement was too much for us to deal with at times on a big pitch."
