Laudrup pleased with a point

4th May

Michael Laudrup declared himself happy with a share of the spoils after Swansea were held to a goalless draw against Manchester City at the Liberty.

The home side shaded an even first half and could have gone ahead when Pablo Hernandez spurned a good chance, while they were denied a penalty when Michu went down under a challenge from Mateja Nastasic.

City improved in the second period and should have taken all three points when substitute Edin Dzeko missed an open goal.

The result means Swansea stay in the top half of the table and Laudrup was happy to add another point to this season's tally.

"We have to be pleased with a point," he said. "We played some very good football in the first half, but if you don't score in your good moments there is a danger that the opposition could punish you.

"But in the end I'm pleased with a draw and we stay ninth with a game in hand. One more win should now see us finish in the top half and that would be a fantastic achievement."

Meanwhile, Laudrup confirmed that Michu is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring problem.

The top scorer was replaced by Luke Moore in the second half and is certain to miss Tuesday's trip to Wigan.

And Laudrup insisted that his side are in for a tough game at the DW Stadium as Roberto Martinez's look to get themselves out of trouble at the bottom end of the Premier League.

"I don't think they will be down if we beat them," he said. "Everyone could still go down and we'll see what happens.

"It will be a hard game for us. I know they have the cup final coming up, but their Premier League life is to play for.

"They will come with all they have and I'll put out a good team because we all want to win."

Meanwhile, the result means Manchester City remain second in the Premier League and seven points ahead of third-placed Chelsea.

And boss Roberto Mancini felt his side should have claimed all three points at the Liberty Stadium.

"I thought we deserved to win," he said. "We had a few problems with Swansea on the counter attack and I'm not sure how we didn't have a penalty in the second half.

"We wanted to win to strengthen our grip on second position."
