Laudrup: There is no pressure on us

Michael Laudrup insists there is no pressure on his side ahead of Sunday's penultimate game of the season at Old Trafford.

The Swans face Manchester United in what will be Sir Alex Ferguson's final home game in charge following his announcement to retire at the end of the campaign.

Laudrup's side recorded their first win in eight games following Tuesday's win over Wigan at the DW Stadium - a result which cemented their place in the top half of the table.

And with just two games left to play, Laudrup believes his players now have a great chance to cap what has already been a historic campaign.

"For us, Sunday's game is one where we'll try to do our best," he said. "We have everything to win, and nothing to lose.

"Their players will want to give Sir Alex the best leaving present, and it will be a difficult game for us. We'll try and get something but even so we'll still have a great opportunity to finish in the top half of the table.

"But there is absolutely no pressure on us following the victory over Wigan - it was very important for us. Even through the bad run we remained ninth and we can now look forward to the final two games and even have a chance of finishing eighth after winning a trophy.

"If we can achieve that then it will be incredible for this club."

Sunday's game is sure to be a wonderful occasion with Sir Alex Ferguson bowing out after 27 years in the Old Trafford dugout.

The Scot leaves United having regained their Premier League crown from rivals Manchester City, paving the way for fellow countryman David Moyes to take over in the summer.

And Michael Laudrup praised the job Sir Alex has done at Manchester United ahead of Sunday's televised clash.

"It seemed like he would go on and on," he said. "But this came out of the blue and caught us all by surprise a little.

"To leave after winning the league title once more is a great way to go out, but what makes it so special is that Sunday will be his last home game in charge and I'm proud to be the opponent."

Following Moyes's imminent departure, Laudrup has been mentioned as a potential candidate to replace the Scot at Goodison Park.

However, the Swans boss reiterated his desire to remain at the Liberty Stadium.

"I've said many times that my intention is to be here next season," said Laudrup. "It is pure speculation once more. I don't have dreams; I like to live in the present."

Meanwhile, Laudrup gave an update on the injury news ahead of Sunday's game at Old Trafford after both Chico Flores and Michu missed Tuesday's game against Wigan.

"There's a possibility that Chico will return, but we'll have to wait and see about Michu," he said. "Angel (Rangel) is ruled out with a calf problem and there are a couple of question marks with other players.

"But I'm certain that the eleven players that take to the field on Sunday will be competitive."
