Laudrup: We showed great character

6th April

Michael Laudrup hailed his side's character as the Swans ended a run of three straight defeats with a draw at Norwich.

The visitors dominated the first half, but had to wait until ten minutes before the break before taking the lead, as Michu crashed home his 21st goal of the season.

However, Norwich hauled themselves level before half time as Robert Snodgrass headed in, and Michael Turner scored in the second period to put the home side ahead.

But the Swans weren't to be denied a share of the spoils as Luke Moore slotted home from close range with 15 minutes to play.

"We dominated the first thirty minutes," said Laudrup. "We got the goal and then let them back into the game before half time.

"But we showed good character to come back and get a draw. We could have won, but we'll take a point.

"Every point is special, simply because we know how difficult the league is."

The Swans now have a two-week break before their next league game when Southampton visit the Liberty Stadium on April 20.

But following the draw with Norwich - a result that stopped a run of successive defeats - Laudrup was in reflective mood as he spoke of the need to push on between now and the end of the campaign.

"We have four away wins this season and that's ok for us and about average," he said. "A couple of games we have deserved more.

"But you always have to look ahead. You can't stop.

"We are not struggling and in need of points. But it's a process we have to learn from for the future.

"The intensity has to be high all the time to match teams and look to go and get wins."

Meanwhile, the result leaves Norwich just five points clear of the relegation zone.

And boss Chris Hughton maintains his side need to secure enough points between now and the end of the season to make sure of their place in the Premier League next season.

"I thought we conceded soft goals today," he said. "We wanted a win, but we still need points.

"All the teams around us are capable of winning games but we need to make sure we do enough and focus on ourselves.

"But the players showed great endeavour and I can't fault their commitment."
