Leon: Plenty of positives

Leon Britton insists the Swans can take plenty of positives following Monday's entertaining draw against Liverpool.

The game exploded into life in the first five minutes as Jonjo Shelvey put the home side ahead against his former club before Daniel Sturridge hit back for the visitors.

Liverpool took the lead when Victor Moses burst clear and beat Michel Vorm with a low drive, before Michu earned the Swans a point with a fine second half strike.

And Britton, who celebrated his 31st birthday on Monday, admits that it could have been all three points in the end.

"It was a pulsating game, especially in the first half," he said. "But it must have been great for the neutral.

"We're delighted with a point in the end. We played really well in the second half and there only really looked like one team was going to win it.

"We finished the game really strongly, and we're perhaps a tad disappointed that we didn't go on and get a winner.

"But if we had been offered a draw at half time then I think we would have taken it, and we can certainly take a lot of positives from the second half."

He added: "Ten years ago I scored on my birthday against Macclesfield in League Two, so things have changed a little bit.

"I celebrated that with a curry down on St Helen's road and now I'm changing nappies after games, so my life just gets better and better!"

It was also an eventful evening for Britton's midfield partner, Jonjo Shelvey.

The former Liverpool man celebrated his first goal for Swansea by slotting past Simon Mignolet inside the opening two minutes.

But two mistakes gave Liverpool the chance to turn the game on its head before the England international set up Michu for the equaliser.

"I think he was involved in all four goals," he said. "But it was a dream start, not just for Jonjo but also for the team as well to go ahead after just two minutes.

"He took his goal fantastically well, and naturally he's disappointed with Liverpool's two goals.

"But he showed the character that he has in the second half to set up Michu's goal."
