Leroy Fer delighted with match-winning goal

13th August

Swans match-winner Leroy Fer was delighted to send the Jack Army home happy after scoring his first competitive goal for the club.
Fer, who completed his permanent move to the club in the summer, tapped home in the 83rd minute to secure a precious three points at newly-promoted Burnley.
And having impressed during his loan spell at the Liberty at the end of last season, the Dutch midfielder was pleased to repay the Swans faithful for their support since his switch from QPR.
"I really love the fans here,'' declared Fer, who also scored in a pre-season friendly at Bristol Rovers last month. "They were singing my name as soon as I arrived at the club last season, which was fantastic for me.
"To score the winning goal today gave me a good feeling that I made them happy. Hopefully I can score some more goals now."

Fer latched onto Fernando Llorente's parried header from a Jefferson Montero cross to get the Swans off to the perfect start to the new campaign, with Hull up next at the Liberty.
"It was the perfect start,'' added Fer. "Yes I scored my first goal for Swansea, but the important thing was that we got the three points, so I'm very happy.
"It was a really important game defensively for us because they played a lot of long balls and Sam Vokes is really good in the air to flick on to Andre Gray. Fab (Lukasz Fabianski) also made some great saves for us.
"For the first 15 or 20 minutes of the second half they came out strong and we had to defend really well.
"But we were knocking on the door ourselves in the last 10 minutes and got the goal.
"Mo (Barrow) did really well in the first half but didn't get much of the ball after the break. But Jeff (Montero) came on and did the same as Mo in the first half by creating some good chances. It was his cross that Fernando flicked on and I got a tap in.
"It was the win we wanted - and needed.''
