Let's finish on a high, says Fernandez

19th May

Federico Fernandez is aiming to end the season on a high when the Swans travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday as the curtain comes down on the Barclays Premier League campaign. (3pm, May 24).

The Swans ended 2014-15 at the Liberty Stadium on a losing note on Sunday after they went down in a six-goal thriller to Manchester City.

Despite a strong start from the Swans, Manuel Pellegrini's side opened up a two-goal lead courtesy of Yaya Toure and James Milner.

The Swans showed character to claw back the deficit as goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafe Gomis levelled the scoreline, but further goals from Toure and a late strike from former Swans striker Wilfried Bony secured a 4-2 win for the visitors.

And in spite of the defeat, Fernandez hailed Swansea's reaction to going behind and is eager to finish the season on a positive note when the Swans make the trip to Selhurst Park this weekend.

"The team's reaction to going two goals behind was very good," said Fernandez.

"We put in a good performance, but City are a good team with top players. They took their opportunities.

"We had good possession of the ball and worked hard, but we couldn't take anything. We had chances too, but Hart made some incredible saves.

"In the next game at Crystal Palace we want the three points. It will be a difficult and physical game. They beat Liverpool on Saturday, but we are a good team.

"If we put in a good performance, we can win to make sure we end the season well."
