Liam Cullen | Resilience key to second-half comeback
Liam Cullen believes patience and resilience were the catalysts for Swansea City's second-half revival as the Wales international's stoppage-time header secured a 1-1 draw against Preston North End.
In a game of two very different halves, Preston had the better of the opening period and Daniel Jebbison netted the opener with 26 minutes played.
But an improved showing in the second half for the Swans saw the likes of Ben Cabango, Malick Yalcouye and Cullen register chances.
Time looked to be running out as a first defeat in SA1 since November 25 beckoned, but Cullen adjusted superbly to stretch and glance a header into the far corner of the net in the final minute of the five added on, and the Swans maintained their unbeaten home run which now extends to nine league games.
"The lads were a little bit disappointed with how the game went. Credit to Preston in the first half, they made it really tough and they got their first goal. They're a tough team to break down," said Cullen.
"Second half, we came out and we were on top the whole half, we missed a few chances which we were frustrated at.
"But it was nice to be able to be the one to get on the end of the cross and get the equaliser. We are disappiointed not to get the three points, our second-half performance deserved it, but it's a point in the right direction.
"The gaffer has been big on resilience since he's come in, he tells us to keep running, to keep going forward, especially when we're behind. That's a testament to him and his staff for driving that mentality."
Tuesday also marked the arrival of minority owner Snoop Dogg as he appeared on the pitch on his first visit to the Swansea.com Stadium among a sold-out home crowd.
"He's a top guy, it's really good to have him around," added Cullen.
"He's a star, it was good to have him at training and he had a few words for us. He also came in at the end of the game and said we had the fight and spirit to keep going in the game.
"I think he sat on my seat before the game, his number is number 20 and he said I was going to score as well. I've told him he has to come to every game!"
