Korey Smith hopes victory in Swansea City’s final home fixture of the regular campaign can give Steve Cooper’s side a lift ahead of the Championship play-offs.

Goals from Morgan Whittaker and Connor Roberts ensured the Swans came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory over Derby in SA1.

It was a timely boost for Cooper’s side, who had lost three of their last four on home soil prior to last weekend’s victory.

The win saw the Swans finish their home fixtures with a total of 42 points – seven more than last year – banked at the Liberty.

It also moved them up to fourth and onto 80 points – bettering last season’s tally of 70 – with a trip to already-promoted Watford signing off the regular season on Saturday.

And Smith feels the comeback win over the Rams could prove to be a shot in the arm as the Swans move closer to their two-legged play-off.

Derby home Korey Smith

“We have had a great run at home this season, but the last few results before Derby were a draw and a few losses at the Liberty.

“Beating Derby at home was a massive boost ahead of the play-offs. It’s something that can help us, even though it’s not the be all and end all, but it was nice to get back to winning ways.

“We wanted to try and build some momentum going into the play-offs, and three points some important minutes for a number of players proved a great outcome.”
