Jazz Richards made a crucial goal-line clearance as Fulham moved to within a point of safety in the Championship thanks to a 1-0 win at relegated Blackpool.
The Wales full-back raced back to deny Nathan Delfouneso after he had beaten keeper Marcus Bettinelli, with Richards' intervention proving a key moment for Kit Symons' side as they now require just a point from their remaining two games to guarantee Championship survival.
They will, however, be safe from relegation if third-bottom Millwall fail to beat Blackburn at Ewood Park on Tuesday night.
Modou Barrow set up Nottingham Forest's opening goal in a thrilling contest with Blackburn, which ended 3-3.
The young winger, who was replaced after 78 minutes, crossed for Michail Antonio to head home to put Forest back on level terms.
The point means Forest drop down to 11th in the table, with 59 points with two games remaining.
Dwight Tiendalli, meanwhile, didn't feature for Middlesbrough as they boosted their automatic promotion hopes with a 1-0 win at Norwich City.
In League One, Swans trio Liam Shephard, Stephen Kingsley and Josh Sheehan all featured for the full 90 minutes as relegated Yeovil shocked promotion-chasing Swindon Town.
Sheehan cleared off his own line as Terry Skiverton's side claimed a 1-0 win thanks to James Berrett's second-half strike.
Yeovil remain bottom on 40 points with games against Port Vale and MK Dons to come.
Ryan Hedges came off the bench as Leyton Orient slipped into the relegation zone following a 6-1 loss at third-placed MK Dons.
The forward was introduced with 20 minutes to go, with Orient already trailing 5-1.
Orient are two points adrift of Crewe - who sit 20th after a 1-1 draw with Walsall - with a game in hand.
Finally, in League Two, Rory Donnelly was an unused substitute as Tranmere's survival hopes were dealt a blow following a 3-0 home defeat by Oxford United.
This loss leaves Tranmere two points from safety with two games to go.
