Rory Donnelly got his first goals for Tranmere to lift them out of the League Two relegation zone following a 3-0 home win over Accrington Stanley.
The striker, who was making his first start for the club, opened the scoring after guiding Shamir Fenelon's cross past Accrington's Matt Macey.
Fenelon then doubled the advantage and then Donnelly finished off the visitors by curling a right-footed effort just inside the far post before he was replaced by Jake Kirby in the 76th minute.
The victory lifts Micky Adams' side above Dagenham & Redbridge on goal difference.
Donnelly will hope to continue his fine form when Tranmere host bottom club Hartlepool on Saturday.
Alan Tate featured for the full 90 minutes but he couldn't prevent Crewe from going down 2-1 at Notts County.
Crewe had got themselves back onto level terms shortly after the break before the hosts won it late on to send Steve Davis' side into the League One relegation zone.
Crewe visit Port Vale on Saturday as they aim to climb back up the table.
Ryan Hedges wasn't involved in Leyton Orient's 2-2 draw at Preston, which sent Fabio Liverani's out of the League One relegation zone.
The youngster has joined Orient on a one-month loan, and he hopes to feature in their trip to Colchester this weekend.
Staying in League One, Liam Shephard wasn't signed in time to feature in Yeovil's 1-0 win over Bradford City.
The right-back, who joined the Glovers on a youth loan hours before kick-off, could make his debut in Tuesday night's fixture at Preston as Gary Johnson's side aim to lift themselves off bottom spot.
