Jordi Amat made his debut for Real Betis this weekend following his season-long loan switch to the La Liga club.

Amat had been an unused substitute in Betis’ first two league games of the new season.

But the central defender was in the starting side – and played the full 90 minutes – as his new side travelled to Villarreal.

Unfortunately, however, Betis went down 3-1.

Elsewhere in La Liga, Jefferson Montero’s new club, Getafe, won 2-1 at Leganes, but the Ecuador international winger was not involved.

However, it is thought Montero could make his debut for his new club when they take on Barcelona next weekend.

Borja, meantime, hopes to feature when Malaga host Las Palmas tonight.

In the Championship, Connor Roberts was not involved as Garry Monk’s Middlesbrough won 3-0 against a Bolton Wanderers side featuring Darren Pratley.

Matt Grimes played 90 minutes for Northampton Town as they won their League One game against Doncaster Rovers 1-0.

The victory came in new manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s first match as Cobblers boss, and saw them climb off the bottom of the table.

In League Two, young central defender Keston Davies was an unused substitute in Yeovil’s 0-0 draw with Cheltenham.

And in Scotland, Botti Biabi watched from the bench as Hamilton were beaten 4-1 by Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.
