March's Jack of the Month

28th March

Swansea City are pleased to announce that Stuart Manser has been awarded the title of 'Jack of the Month' for March.

The 64-year-old from Swansea takes the monthly gong as part of our continued initiative to give back to our loyal supporters.

Manser, who has been a devoted Swans supporter since 1959, travels all of the way from his home in Kidderminster to cheer on Garry Monk's side at every home game.

Having been put forward for the super-fan accolade by a friend, Manser was shocked to find out he had actually won.

"I was surprised when my old school mate told me he had done it," said the winner.

"I am proud to belong to a large family that is Swansea City - players, staff and supporters.

"I am just one of many loyal supporters. We are like a family in that we share experiences and support each other through good and bad times.

"I can remember my brother, sister and father taking me to the Vetch Field for my first game in January 1959.

"Records show that it may have been a 1-0 away win for Sheffield United, but I was so overwhelmed by the occasion that I can't recall the score myself.

"But I do remember it as the time another Jack joined the Swans family.

"For me, a matchday experience is like a regular homecoming."

Through following the Swans for over 50 years, Manser has enjoyed many great moments as a member of the Jack Army - from Darren Pratley's play-off semi-final strike against Nottingham Forest to the numerous wonder-goals scored by Lee Trundle.

But for him, promotion to the Premier League after a 4-2 victory over Reading at Wembley just about tops the lot.

"There have been many great memories, but certainly the play-off final win over Reading sticks out in my mind.

"But, as I have said, there have been many memorable moments. The win at Preston to gain promotion under John Toshack was another - I fainted when Jeremy Charles scored the winner!

"Also, Pratley's late spectacular goal against Nottingham Forest was a special moment."
