Maric eyeing repeat success

4th April

Adnan Maric hopes cup final experience can help Swansea City Under-23s retain the Premier League Cup.

The Swans face Brighton in the quarter-final of a competition they won last season at Landore this Friday (7pm) after knocking out Bristol City in the last 16.

Maric netted in a 4-2 win over the Robins, with Botti Biabi (two) and Kenji Gorre also on target.

The Swedish midfielder was also part of the Swans side who lifted the cup last season thanks to a 2-0 win over Reading in the final.

“It was massive for us to win this cup last season,” Maric said. “I was proud to be part of the side to do that.

“We know what this competition is about. It is important we keep focus and cope with the pressure of knockout football because we want to go all the way again.

“Last year was a brilliant year for us. The whole team was playing some great football. Even though we have had changes, I see similarities to that this season.

“I hope I can bring the experience from last season to the side to help us this time around.

“We have history in this cup and we want to keep fighting and developing and show that we are the best we can be.

“We can’t doubt that we can go all the way and do it again. As a team you have to believe you can do it.”
