Marko Stamenic believes Swansea City are continuing to build under new head coach Vitor Matos, but feels improved away performances need to start translating into points.

The Swans were beaten 1-0 by the Championship leaders, as Ephron Mason-Clark's goal from a long throw just before half-time proved the difference.

Swansea also had a big chance through Zan Vipotnik, while Melker Widell and Liam Cullen were unable to take inviting opportunities after the break.

The visitors had encouraging spells, particularly during an opening half-hour where a Coventry side seeking an eighth home win in a row were unable to muster a single shot on goal.

And New Zealand international Stamenic hopes to see the consistent run of positive showings turn into victories as eyes turn to Monday’s clash with Oxford.

“We had a good run of performances leading up to this game, and the Wrexham win,” he said.

“We had confidence going into this fixture on the back of last week, no matter the manner of the opponent, who are the league leaders.

“We had one real big chance in the first half, then it was frustrating to concede just before the break.

“We had another big chance in the second half; it just wasn’t our day but there are a lot of positives to take.

“With the chances we had, we could have come away with three points.

“Most importantly, I feel we are becoming consistent with our performances which shows we keep building. We just need to turn those chances and performances in to wins.

“We all believe these performances will translate into results, we’re at the midway point in the season now, so we’ve got to turn it around.”
