Marko Stamenic | That win was down to our mentality
Marko Stamenic praised the mentality shown by Swansea City to claim three points on the road against play-off chasing Watford.
The New Zealander was on hand to turn in the opener from close range after a corner was flicked on, before turning provider for Josh Key to seal the 2-0 victory with 10 minutes to go.
It was a second away win of Vitor Matos’ tenure as Swans boss and a fourth win on the road this season.
Stamenic tapped home his second goal of the season in the 55th minute, and the 23-year-old hailed the work of Matos and his staff as the squad continues to see development and progression.
"We've been working so hard throughout the weeks and the gaffer has been saying that with the performances we've been pulling out away, eventually you're going to come out with a win," said Stamenic.
"We dug in deep, the first half wasn't as good as we thought it would be but we kept our mentality strong and at the end of the day, it's about winning and we came out with three points.
"The gaffer and the staff around him have been immense. They've helped the team and me personally. They've shown us so much willingness to improve us as players and a team, and it's showing now.
"I think the fans can see that too, and I can't really explain how much the fans mean to us, they got us over the finish line and the noise they were making. It meant a lot to me and it meant a lot to the boys as well.”
