Matt Grimes expects Swansea City to face a Wycombe Wanderers side that are “bang at it” as he closes in on his 150th appearance for the club.

The Swans skipper will reach the milestone if he plays a part in Saturday’s clash at the Liberty as Steve Cooper’s side look to maintain their upturn in form.

Wins at Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday see the Swans sit seven points behind second-placed Watford and nine ahead of Reading, who are seventh, with five games remaining.

The Swans won the previous encounter between the sides earlier in the season, and while Gareth Ainsworth’s side sit bottom of the table and 10 points adrift from safety with five games to go, Grimes is expecting a revived Wycombe side looking to build on recent form.

The visitors have won eight games this season, but three of those have come in their last seven outings.

Grimes said: “Wycombe will be bang at it, as are all of the teams who are fighting for their lives at this stage of the season.

“It will be another tough test but if we play like we did on Tuesday and Saturday then it will be all about us.

“We spoke after the win at Millwall that it was a brilliant result but we needed to back that up. We had four losses so just one good game was not enough to put that to bed, and we managed to do so at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.

“After four disappointing results it has been great to win back-to-back matches on the road. It’s a long season and we were going to have dips in performances, but we know why we are in the position we’re in. It was all about refocussing and trying to get back to the level that we know we can play at.”
