Matt Grimes wants Swansea City to keep the momentum going after producing “the perfect away performance” at QPR in midweek.

The 3-1 win at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium moved Steve Cooper’s side up to second in the embryonic Championship table, only off the top spot on goal difference.

They welcome Birmingham City to the Liberty Stadium on Sunday looking to extend their excellent record in SA1, where they are unbeaten in 13 league games.

It has been a busy start for Cooper and his squad, and there will still be games against Cambridge United and Leeds United to negotiate before the international break brings a brief respite.

But captain Grimes is determined that the Swans keep moving in the right direction as they welcome former assistant manager Pep Clotet back to the Liberty.

“Obviously, it’s early days yet but we’ll certainly take where we are in the table right now,” said the midfielder.

“We just need to focus on taking each game as it comes. QPR was a very tough game away from home and we’ve managed to pick up the three points.

“If we do that, there’s no reason why we can’t keep building momentum and that’s what we have to do on the back of performances like that.

“That was near enough the perfect away performance, barring their goal.

"I thought we started the game well and played some really good stuff. We then managed the game really well at the end and were deserving of the win."
