Matt Grimes | We need right response

Matt Grimes has challenged Swansea City to produce a reaction at Huddersfield on Tuesday, after admitting they deserved nothing from a poor display against Millwall.

Having taken seven points from the three games prior to the international break, the Swans saw their unbeaten run ended as Jed Wallace’s thunderbolt of a free-kick gave the Lions all three points at the Liberty.

The 1-0 defeat extended a run of disappointing form on home turf, but the Swans head to the John Smith’s Stadium in midweek still guarding the only unbeaten away record in the EFL.

And captain Grimes says everyone has to show a marked improvement to get back on track in Yorkshire.

“It was a day of disappointment – there’s no other way to describe it,” he said of the Millwall game.

“We weren’t good enough to a man and didn’t really deserve anything from the game.

“I think it’s easy to look at the international break and pin it on that, but you can’t put it down to that – we were just so poor.

“There’s nothing we can change now. We were all poor – we know that, the staff know that and the fans know that.

“It’s all about how you react. If you feel sorry for yourself and start hiding then things are only going to get worse.

“We need to bounce back by getting a positive result on Tuesday and start building another good run of games.”
