Swansea City skipper Matt Grimes insists the early Championship leaders won’t get carried away with their fine start to the season.

Steve Cooper’s side sit top of the table after winning five and drawing one of their opening six games.

A 1-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road last time out meant the Swans entered the international break two points clear of second-placed Charlton Athletic.

But Grimes was quick to point out everyone within the Swans squad will keeping their feet firmly on the ground.

“It’s a very good position to be in, but we won’t get too carried away with it,” said Grimes.

“It’s been a very good start to the season and we hope to keep building on our performances and getting better and better every week.

“I don’t think we should be too concerned about the message we’re sending elsewhere.

“We will stay focused on what we’re doing. We know the quality we have and that we’re a very good side.

“But we know that things can change quickly in the Championship – it’s a ruthless division.

“However, if we carry on the way we are then the only way is up. We just need to keep performing and picking up points, but that’s a big challenge in itself.”
