McBurnie: We've set the standard

Oli McBurnie believes the Swans have set the standard for performances this season after an impressive start under Graham Potter.

The Swans go into this afternoon’s clash with Bristol City (3pm) at the Liberty hoping to extend a four-game unbeaten run at the start of the season.

An impressive victory at Sheffield United on the opening day was followed up by another three-pointer at home to Preston before a hard-earned draw at Birmingham City.

But it was the performance in the midweek draw with Leeds United which really caught the imagination of Swans supporters, with Potter’s side playing some scintillating football during a 2-2 draw in SA1.

And McBurnie feels his team-mates must produce that level of performance week-in, week-out.

“We have produced many different types of performances so far, but our best so far came in midweek against Leeds,” said McBurnie, who scored both of the Swans’ goals on Tuesday.

“At Sheffield United we started to play our game in the second half, while against Preston we performed well in the first half but didn’t match it after half-time.

“We had to dig deep and battle for a point at Birmingham – that wasn’t pretty – but we got something from the game.

“Then against Leeds I felt we put in a performance which we need to be putting in each game. That’s the minimum required from us now.

“We need to play like that – or even better – against Bristol City on Saturday because they will be buzzing after beating QPR and will come here looking to beat us on our own patch.”
