Michu's Spanish triumph

20th September

Michu declared his delight at returning to Spain to claim all three points for the Swans in the Europa League.

Michael Laudrup's side eased to a 3-0 win against Valencia at the Mestalla to go top of Group A.

Wilfried Bony gave the visitors the lead, before Michu grabbed a second with a trademark finish.

And after Jonathan de Guzman wrapped up the win with a sublime free kick, the Spaniard showed his delight as the Swans produced another memorable performance.

"We did really well and deserved the three points," he said. "It was always going to be difficult to face the favourites for the group, so we're very happy with the win.

"I really enjoyed the game, and it was nice to be back in Spain with all the fans. But I also want to thank our fans because a lot of them travelled out and gave us great support.

"It was a great counter attack, but it started slowly. Then Pozuelo played me in with a great pass and I managed to finish it off.

"It was an important goal because it gave us the chance to go on and win the game a lot easier.

"We still have five games to play in the group. I think we are in a good position but we still need to work really hard in order to qualify."

The Swans now face a trip to Crystal Palace less than 48 hours after the win in Spain as they return to Premier League action.

And Michu has urged caution ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park.

"It will be a tough game," he said. "But we go there looking to get more points because we need them in the league."
