Mike van der Hoorn eager to get started at Swansea City after Leroy Fer's recommendation

6th July

Mike van der Hoorn revealed his arrival at Swansea City was backed up by a glowing reference of the club by fellow Dutchman Leroy Fer.
The centre-back arrives at the Liberty just 24 hours after fellow countryman Fer became the Swans' first signing of the summer.
Now van der Hoorn, who has scored ten goals in 90 senior appearances for Utrecht and Ajax, immediately links up with his new team-mates as the squad fly to America on Thursday for a two-game tour.
"I am delighted to have signed for Swansea," said the 23-year-old.
"I spoke to Leroy recently and he told me a lot of good things about Swansea. He is very happy for me to have moved to Swansea.
"He told me it is a very warm and family club, while the players are very nice."

The Swans' latest signing will bolster Francesco Guidolin's options in the heart of defence, which already contains captain Ashley Williams Federico Fernandez and Jordi Amat.
And van der Hoorn, a Dutch league title winner with Ajax in 2014, is eager to get started with his new team-mates and club.
"I started pre-season last week with Ajax, so I can't wait to get started with Swansea," said van der Hoorn.
"It's amazing. I'm really excited about being here.
"This is the best competition in the world, and I can't wait to get started.
"Swansea play really good football for a Premier League club, and I hope to improve and bring competition to the defensive position.
"I've seen Ashley Williams play in the European Championships - he's a really good defender. Hopefully I can learn from him."
