Curtis Obeng made his second start for Newport County as Justin Edinburgh's side were held at League Two bottom club Hartlepool United.
Newport looked on course for victory as they led 2-0 despite being reduced to ten men.
But Newport, who also introduced James Loveridge off the bench, conceded twice inside the last ten minutes as Hartlepool claimed a point.
Scott Tancock was among the unused substitutes for Edinburgh's side, who remain a point outside of the play-off spots.
Fellow Swans Alan Tate and Daniel Alfei were not involved for their loan clubs Crewe and Northampton. Crewe drew 1-1 at Crawley while Northampton beat AFC Wimbledon 2-0.
Michu was also an unused substitute as Napoli beat Roma 2-0 to move up to fourth in Serie A.
