Monk's delight at Oliveira signing

23rd December

Garry Monk declared his delight at completing the loan signing of Portuguese international Nelson Oliveira from Benfica.
The striker, who has won 14 caps for his country, arrives at the Liberty on loan for the rest of the season and will wear the number 9 shirt.
The paperwork will be completed with the Premier League once the transfer window opens on January 1.
Oliveira, who featured for Portugal at Euro 2012, gives Garry Monk further attacking options due to Wilfried Bony's involvement in the African Cup of Nations next month.

"I'm happy to have it all completed," said Monk. "I spoke about that position before about the fact that we needed to get another player in to challenge for a place.
"Nelson is a very good player, I've watched him a lot and we're thankful to have signed him.
"He's a different type of striker and we now have different players for different positions, which is important.
"It gives us more options and a chance to utilise that."
Meanwhile, Monk dismissed reports that summer signing Bafetimbi Gomis would be departing the club in January.
"I cant stop the links and speculation, but Bafe is a Swansea City player," he said. "I've worked closely with him since he arrived and he's a top, top player.
"Giving him game time has been difficult but he has worked extremely hard in training and I'll be playing in the period coming up and it will be his shirt to lose."
