Nev Wilshire's starring role in Swansea City DVD

1st July

Being no stranger to the big screen, Nev Wilshire was a natural choice to present our Record Breakers: History Makers DVD.
Nev, who starred in the BBC hit series The Call Centre, got the nod as the special guest presenter for the Swans' end-of-season review DVD as we reflect on a memorable campaign for Garry Monk and co.
A Swans supporter since his early years, Nev jumped at the chance to be the main face of the annual DVD and put chairman Huw Jenkins and Jonjo Shelvey under the spotlight in special sketches.
Nev talks us through a fantastic journey from that victory at Manchester United through to record-breaking achievements along the way. And his quick-wit and banter add some comical moments to a DVD that Swans fans will not want to miss.

"It was a real privilege to be involved in the DVD," said Nev, who is a regular at the Liberty.
"I had great fun with Jonjo and Huw. They are great characters and I really enjoyed doing a few scenes with them.
"Jonjo proved a big hit when he came to the Call Centre, and after seeing him in action on the desk taking a few calls I can safely say he shouldn't give up his day job!"
Nev has a strong affinity with the Swans, having joined the club as a youngster before playing locally in the Welsh League with Pontardawe, Port Talbot, Carmarthen, Ton Pentre, Brecon and Briton Ferry Athletic.
After hanging up his boots at the age of 42, he became a regular at the Vetch and Liberty - along with opposition stadiums up and down the country.
"I was asked to join Swansea as a kid by Roy Bentley. Within a month, he had left, so that says a lot about his recruitment policy," joked Nev.
"Harry Gregg was then in charge and he got shot of me because I wouldn't kick people. If he saw my Welsh League history after that then he would realise he was wrong!
"I played at the Vetch for around three or so years up until I was 16 or 17. It was great for a local lad.
"I was coached by some great people - Roy Saunders was lovely guy. He put a lot of effort coaching kids."

Nev added: "I didn't get to watch a great deal of the Swans while I was playing, but along with my son Phil we saw the last season at the Vetch, which was incredible, and then bought seats at the Liberty when it was built.
"We've had away season tickets too, so we've had great moments at places ranging from Bury and Yeovil to the top brass in the Premier League.
"The last ten years have been a massive upward trend, and it's great for all Swans supporters.
"And I think the name of this DVD - Record Breakers: History Makers - perfectly sums up the season.
"If you're a Swans fan then you definitely want to make sure it's among your DVD collection."
