Swansea City did not pick up any new injury worries ahead of Saturday’s game against Blackburn Rovers, although George Byers has suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a groin injury.

The Swans face Rovers at the weekend in what will be a fifth game in a sequence of seven in 22 days.

Ryan Bennett was brought off as a precaution in the midweek win over Stoke, but head coach Steve Cooper has confirmed he is available for the weekend.

New signing Joel Latibeaudiere, is also taking a full part in training after arriving from Manchester City with a minor injury.

“We didn’t pick up anything new in midweek,” said Cooper.

“Ryan is fine, he is not injured. It showed his experience the other night because we have put him into a busy Championship programme, and he put his ego and pride to one side to do what was best for the team.

“I spoke to him today and he will certainly be ready for the next game, but it was a good move from him the other day to let us know how he was feeling.

“Joel is also in training with us, he has been training all week. He is progressing nicely and learning about how we do things.”

However, Byers, who has yet to feature this season, is still a couple of weeks away from a full return.

It had been hoped the midfielder would be available following the last international break, but he has not managed to fully shake off the problem.

“George Byers is still getting to grips with things, we hoped he would be back earlier than is proving to be the case,” added Cooper.

“He has had a setback with a complicated groin injury he is struggling to shift. We hope he will be back in a couple of weeks, otherwise we are fine.”
