Martin Olsson believes the Swans have given themselves a good platform to build from ahead of Manchester United’s visit to the Liberty next weekend.

Paul Clement’s side kicked off their 2017-18 Premier League campaign with a hard-earned point against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.

The Swans were solid defensively, though the Saints rued missed chances by Maya Hoshida, Dusan Tadic, James Ward-Prowse and Manolo Gabbiadini.

And Olsson believes the Swans can show a more attacking side to their game when Jose Mourinho’s side head to the Liberty on Saturday.

“It’s not always pretty football. Sometimes we have to show the other side of our game where we need to dig deep and be strong mentally,” said Olsson. “That’s what we had to do at Southampton.

“Now the focus is on Manchester United at the Liberty.

“We will have our fans behind us and we can build on this performance and show more of our attacking qualities.”
