Fresh from his World Cup adventure with Sweden, Martin Olsson is fit and focused on Swansea City’s Championship campaign.

The disappointment of relegation with the Swans was followed up by helping Sweden reach the quarter-final of the World Cup in Russia, with the left-back making two appearances.

And after a short break, Olsson – who played 43 times in all competitions for the Swans last season – is back in training with his club-mates as they prepare for Saturday’s opening Championship fixture at Sheffield United.

“I had an amazing experience at the World Cup – it was a dream come true to play at the tournament and to have gone that far,” said the 30-year-old.

“But that is gone now. The focus is now on Swansea.

“Last season was tough for everyone here, but now it’s about a different challenge in the Championship.

“It’s going to be a long season, but I think we must be patient too.

“It’s a new league and we have a few new players, so it could take time for everything to fall into place.

“But I’m just looking forward to getting started. I’ve been in training with the group and I am available to play this Saturday.”
